Why we built our App

Classic cars are more than transportation. They are machines rebuilt, preserved, and stewarded over time. The work invested in them. The hours, the parts sourced, the decisions made, all deserves to be documented with the same care. We wanted something for our cars, a place to keep the history because often the previous owner, well, they just don’t keep everything.

Classic Auto Journal was created to preserve that history.

This is not a generic maintenance tracker. It is a structured restoration journal designed specifically for classic car owners who understand that documentation protects value and preserves provenance.

Restoration history is often scattered.

Receipts live in folders. Notes are kept in notebooks. Parts are purchased months before installation and stored on shelves. Service work is remembered, but not always recorded in detail.

Over time, gaps appear.

Incomplete documentation makes it harder to track progress, manage costs, validate insurance coverage, or demonstrate value during resale. For serious classic ownership, this is more than an inconvenience. It is a risk.

Our Approach

Classic Auto Journal brings structure to restoration and ownership.

Every project, part, service entry, trip, and renewal becomes part of a unified timeline, a chronological record of the life of your vehicle.

The app is built around how restoration actually happens:

  • Work is planned before it begins.

  • Parts are sourced and stored.

  • Labor and parts costs must be tracked separately.

  • Insurance and agreed value coverage require accurate documentation.

  • Progress unfolds over time.

Classic Auto Journal reflects this real-world process.

Restoration Planning

Projects allow you to plan upcoming work, track status, manage budgets, and link inventory parts before installation. When the work is complete, projects convert seamlessly into documented service history, thus preserving the build as a permanent record.

Parts & Inventory Management

Rare parts are often acquired long before they are installed. Inventory management ensures those components are tracked, stored, and linked to projects with full detail, including part numbers, supplier information, cost, condition, and warranty.

When installed, inventory transitions into the vehicle’s service history automatically.

Labor & Service Documentation

Each service entry records labor hours, labor rates, parts costs, notes, and photos. This separation provides transparency and accuracy, creating a complete record that reflects the true investment in the vehicle.

Over time, this becomes more than a log. It becomes documentation of craftsmanship.

Timeline History

The Timeline brings everything together in chronological order. Completed projects, installed parts, services, trips, insurance renewals, and ownership milestones appear in one continuous archive.

This transforms individual entries into a clear restoration narrative.

Insurance & Ownership Records

Classic Auto Journal also helps manage insurance details, agreed value coverage, registration renewals, and roadside assistance information, ensuring that ownership essentials are documented and accessible.

The Philosophy

Restoration is not only mechanical, it is historical.
